What is a Danish folk college?

Danish folk colleges are a unique concept and part of the non-formal educational system in Denmark. Classes are based on dialogue and mutual learning between teachers and students. The students stay at the college during the course. Living at a folk college is very much about intercultural awareness and personal growth. Students are young young people between 18 and 30 years. The colleges aim to attract students who wish to develop their skill and understanding in their particular field of interest and who also wish to develop personally and become more clear about their future direction.

This particular college focuses on making its students tolerant to the cultural diversity, learn about global citizenship and developing global perspectives.

It is located in Fyn island, close to a town called Middelfart, which it has 40.000 inhabitants.

You will be part of the International Line and study together with young people from both Denmark and around the world.

Students in this program will also have the opportunity to take part in a range of practical workshops, such as art, handicraft, music, sport, Danish language and recycling design.

The program is a very “hand-on” program where students will work within their chosen subjects and also actively take part in the daily work at the school.
