Our YES / AFS alumni are provided with opportunities to enhance their skills with a goal to upscale their personal development and also improve on their communities’ well- being. These training forums are equipped with skills that enhance engagement of the alumni with their community and help create a sustainable environment in-respect with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Climate Action Workshop 2023
Our YES alumni had lengthy discussions on Goal 13 exploring ways on how they can find sustainable ways to tackle climate change especially on matters to deal with pollutions. These change makers were taught on how they can partner with organizations both National and international to sort out waste and find sustainable solutions to end it. Our climate is our responsibility so let’s take action !!!!

Change-maker workshop 2024
From December 5th to 9th, we hosted a successful workshop in Nairobi County, equipping alumni with skills to drive positive change in their communities. The sessions covered proposal writing, budgeting, partnership building, and goal achievement, with interactive activities enhancing practical application.

YES Program African Region Leadership & Volunteerism Workshop 2025
From Cameroon to Egypt, Ghana to Tunisia, Mozambique to Morocco, South Africa to Tanzania, Libya to Liberia and of course, the U.S. and Kenya, YES alumni from across Africa and beyond gathered in Nairobi, Kenya for a powerful week of learning, leadership, and community-building.
The YES Alumni Leadership & Volunteerism Regional Workshop, held from June 10–16, 2025, brought together dynamic young changemakers to deepen their leadership capacity and strengthen their commitment to community service.
Hosted by YES Kenya in collaboration with YES Egypt, the 5-day workshop featured sessions on leadership development, project planning, and storytelling for impact. Participants engaged in cultural exchanges and practical exercises, equipping them with tools to lead and inspire change.
As part of the experience, each participant will implement a follow-on project in their home country—bringing the lessons of the workshop to life across the continent.
This gathering was more than a training it was a celebration of youth-led impact, shared identity, and the spirit of the YES program in action.
