I recently led a four-day workshop on CVER (Countering Violent Extremism and Radicalization) at Moi University, where we empowered students with awareness, dialogue, and resilience to counter violent extremism and promote understanding within their communities.

The workshop combined interactive sessions, group discussions, and practical activities to help participants recognize the signs of radicalization, engage in constructive dialogue, and become agents of peace in their communities. On the final day, we capped the experience with a football tournament among the participants a refreshing and impactful way to end the workshop on a high note.

What began as a small idea grew into something far bigger –  a space where young people could come together to learn, share, and actively stand for peace. It became more than just a workshop; it evolved into a movement of hearts, reminding us that peace isn’t passive. It’s something we build, live, and carry forward.

This journey taught me that meaningful change starts when we choose empathy over hate and action over fear. I am deeply grateful to the YES program and Moi University for trusting this vision, and to every young person who chose to be part of this mission.

A chapter may have closed, but the mission for peace lives on ✍🏽.
